The Somontano Wine Festival, held from 3-6 August 2023, became an unforgettable event for wine and gastronomy lovers. In this case study, we will tell you how the implementation of cashless payments and an effective communication strategy improved the experience of the attendees.
One of the main goals of the Somontano Wine Festival was to improve efficiency at the points of sale and reduce waiting time for the more than 10,000 attendees. To achieve this, the implementation of a cashless payment system was chosen.
Using NFC technology, attendees were able to load cash onto their personalised wristbands, allowing them to make payments quickly and securely throughout the festival grounds.
Personalised wristbands. Each attendee received a personalised wristband equipped with NFC technology.
Balance top-up: Attendees had the option to add balance to their wristbands via our platform or at recharge points within the venue. This allowed users to have full control over their spending and reduced the need to carry cash or credit cards.
Fast and Secure Payments. Thanks to the technology, the transaction was fast and secure. This reduced queues and allowed attendees to fully enjoy the festival’s tastings and activities.
Transparency and Control. Attendees could check the remaining balance on their wristbands at any time, giving them a clear view of their spending.
In addition, for those unfamiliar with this system, informational posters were strategically placed throughout the venue, explaining the recharge process via the festival link.
In summary, the Somontano Wine Festival exceeded expectations. The cashless payments made the purchasing processes faster and more efficient, reducing queues at the points of sale and allowing attendees to fully enjoy the tastings and samplings. In addition, the personalised wristbands became a valuable souvenir for attendees and encouraged fidelity to the festival.
